A Thinking Environment that Supports Risk-Taking

May 8, 2019 7-8:30 PM (EDT)

Our café speaker, Susan Stacey, will lead and guide us in an online conversation about environments that support thinking and risk-taking for educators and for children. How do we encourage innovation and thinking in our programs?

Let’s discuss the role of disequilibrium, and how children use materials in new or risky ways. We’ll use inquiry with risky play outdoors. We will find ways we can say yes to learning.  We’ll also think critically about routines, curricula and environments in our practice.

Nova Scotia’s Early Learning Framework with Susan Stacey

Each person's image of the child is influenced by their own experiences, biases, and knowledge. Join us along with Susan Stacey to dialogue about the new early learning framework in Nova Scotia, with overview of its main principles. The relationship between this framework and HDLH is significant and broadens our knowledge of our Canadian context in early learning. This pilot session will also allow us to explore the online registration and platform for reflective dialogue with break out rooms for small group conversations.
